Day 21 - Trudy

Today was a good day. We slept in really late due to the fact that we didn't go to bed until around 5:30am. Johnnie helped Dave and Julie juice some fruits so that they didn't go to waste. I vacuumed the bedroom and then decided that I wanted the room changed around so Johnnie helped me with that. It looks much better. We have to get up early tomorrow to go to court with Dave and Julie, hope all goes well and maybe everything could be done with. That would be good.

60 day juice fast - Johnnie day 21

3 weeks!!! Who would have thought? It is still hard to believe that is has been 3 weeks since either of us has chewed a bite of any food. Now my sights are set on day 30! The half way point. I am excited. We have debated eating solid food. I want an avocado really bad and Trudy wants a tomato. Not sure if we will but it is still fun to think of doing.

Day 20 - Trudy

Today was a good day. For most of the day we just lounged around then tonight, around 10pm, Julie, Shana and I went to a gay bar to see a drag show for Julie's friend, Susan's birthday party. Julie and Shana drank beer and I had water, it feels very weird going out to a dance club/bar and not drinking. I find it a little hard for me to dance and be social when I am not drinking but I feel like I did okay and I had fun so that is all that matters. The drag show was a blast and I would love to do ot again.

60 day juice fast - Johnnie day 20

We decided to take two days off per week then hit the total body Mon, Wed, and Fri while doing mostly cardio the rest of the week plus some cardio on each of the other days too. I got to be lazy today and play my game most of today. Trudy went to a drag show with Julie, Shanna and some friends.

Food cravings have really been non existent. I do think of what i will enjoy eating when we can eat again but it doesn't drive me crazy.

Day 19 - Trudy

Today was a good day. We went shopping again today, Johnnie got some new shoes and some workout shorts. I got a few bras and 2 more workout outfits. We went to the gym and did some cardio on the treadmills, swam in the pool, soaked in the bot tub and Johnnie sat in the steam room for a bit. We planned that we would go to the gym five days a week and then take two off. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be full body with Tuesday and Thursday being cardio. We also decided that we would go at night because that way we would take the temptation of our friends eating dinner off the table.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 19

Went out today and shopped. I got some new lighter shoes and we went to 24 hour fitness, we walked the treadmills. I did the hill program, that was a tough workout. After cardio we went to the pool/hot tub and then I spent some time in the wet sauna. I really enjoyed the experience, Trudy even ran some and looked very sexy doing so! Yum.

Day 18 - Trudy

Today was our fitness assessment at 24 hour fitness, we worked out for about a half an hour. I feel like we did well. After the gym we went and played tennis, wow, do i need more practice. It was still fun.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 18

Worked with our trainer today for about a half an hour then got the 24 hour fitness trainer pitch, of course! I get that they have to make money but why jump on you right out of the gate? I mean the secret to me getting thinner does not tak a PhD to figure out. Step one, start eating for one person. Step two, get off my fat ass and start moving! End of story and very uncomplicated, ughhhhhh! Writing upside down and in bed not the very best for penmanship. Dave is trying to juice and mix in a meal per day, i could not do this because my old habits would just come back too fast. Hope he can handle it.

Day 17 - Trudy

Today was a good day for Johnnie and I. Dave is struggling and has decided to go back to eating one meal a day. I hope he can find a balance between eating and juicing. Today Johnnie and I joined 24 hour fitness, yeahhhh! I am so excited.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 17

Went and toured the 24 hour fitness today and signed up. It is time to take this to the next level. We are excited and the facility is nice. Plus there are normal people there working out not just Barbie dolls and meatheads! Dave has stopped juicing full time and has decided to eat just one meal per day. I don't want to influence his position in any way I just hope he can stay away from those old habits as he continues. With his stress level and such he could be a ticking time bomb for health issues. It would be a shame for him to literally end up eating himself to death. I would like to keep my friend around for many years to come.

Day 16 - Trudy

Overall today was a good day. Dave came home from work complaining about feeling like shit because of juicing, we gave him some words of encouragement and he said that he would see how he felt tomorrow.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 16

Dave is struggling with the juicing just like we were. It was funny that he made the exact same comment both Trudy and I did about wishing we could just eat our vegetables. Hope he makes it. I think he can if he can just get past the first week.

Day 15 - Trudy

Today was a good day, although we didn't do much. Just hung out is all.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 15

Talked about possibly joining 24 hour fitness since it is so close to Dave and Julie's house. We can gp for less than $30 a month which seems trivial compared to the benefits. Plus they have a pool, sauna and hot tub!!! Hell' we spent $90 a night just to enjoy these things at a hotel.

Day 14 - Trudy

Today Dave started juicing as well. I hope he is able to have good results and that his family will help support him, support is such a big part of this as I am not sure I could do this without Johnnie's support. It was a good day for me.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 14

No real cravings so to speak. Variety is still an issue, was hoping for plumbs and peaches but they appear to be out of season and not available. Oh well.

Day 13 - Trudy

Today was a good day. We got stuff for tennis and workout clothes. I got a large top instead of an extra large, so proud of myself.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 13

Today we went out and bought some tennis rackets and balls so we can get out and enjoy the nice weather while also getting some exercise and hopefully some extra gains in the weight loss coloumn! We have also enjoyed a lay day of juicing, being together and watching Man V Food on the Food Network. That which does not kill you only makes us stronger! Right? My plan was to get on the scale tomorrow and see where I am at after two weeks of juicing. Then add 2 hours of exercise in per day for the next 2 weeks and see if my weight loss from the second 2 weeks is substantially different from the first two weeks.

Day 12 - Trudy

Today was a good day. We went fruit and veggie shopping at a new place called Sprouts, it was awesome and when we are eating again I will buy stuff from there. I was so excited to see that the company that makes our bread now makes tortillas; tacos, burritos, quesadillas are back on the menu! Yeahhhhhh.

60 Day Juice Fast - Johnnie Day 12

Dave has been asking a lot about juicing and he expressed his frustrations over his own weight issues as well. Later in the day he decided that he too will start juicing this Sunday. I am happy we have helped someone else to take this challenge and begin a path to a healthier lifestyle. We have shared as much info as we can and are hopeful that Dave will be able to male it on this journey and getstrong results. A group came over for dinner tonight and I found it a little tough not to be part of the social aspect of the meal.

Day 11 - Trudy

Today was rough I still struggled with wanting food and quitting. Johnnie said that he would support whatever I chose to do, I chose not to quit.

60 Day Juice Fast - Johnnie Day 11

we are a little concerned that we have become to reliant on the bare naked juices and so we went to the farmers market to get some fresh items to juice. We spent about $40 and got some organic items that should juice well.

Dave and Julie were concerned about eating around us and we assured them that they did not have to worry we were, and are, doing fine and watching others enjoy food actually alleviated some of the temptation from food.

Day 10 - Trudy

The day started out pretty good, I was in a decent mood. Today was weigh in day and I was excited to see how much weight I had lost. I was also happy because we were arriving back at Dave and Julie's down in TX. Around the time to way in I made the comment that if I didn't lose 10 or more pounds that I was quitting, I stepped on the scale and was so pissed. I said that's it, I'm eating, I give up. I was only down 8 pounds and I was not happy. Johnnie talked some sense into meand I decided not to quit. I realized that 8 lbs every 10 days for 60 days would be 48 pounds lost and I would reach my goal and that makes me happier.

Day 10 Weight: 217

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 10

Drove about 10 hours to Watauga, TX to stay with Dave and Julie Zant. Road temptations were still very tough. We arrived around 7 or 8pm and settled in then discussed our juicing with Dave and Julie, finally we got on the scale for the first time in ten days. I am down to 297!!! Below 300!!! Thank God. 17 pounds down and about 80 to go. Lol. Trudy has lost 8 pounds and was really frustrated. She wanted greater results and now spoke of ordering a pizza. We talked quite a bit about where she was and where she wanted to be. She soon realized that at her current rate of weight loss she will hit her goal weight loss by the end of the 60 days. I think that helped her feel better. I am very proud of her for even doing the ten days. It has not been easy.

Day 10 weight: 297

Day 9 - Trudy

Today didn't start out rough however, after all day in the car and getting to Council Bluffs at 5pm on a Tuesday I had only one thing on my mind; Taco Tuesday! Taco Tuesday has been our food tradition whenever we are in Council Bluffs for over two years.  It was very rough for me because they are so good and the portions are big. By far one of my favorite foods on Tuesday in Council Bluffs.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 9

Stopped at the hotel lastnight at about 7 or 8pm. Being on the road is a horrible temptation! We eat a ton when we travel as we can now tell by the never ending temptations we face at every gas station. With every billboard sign and so on. Things we used to do as second nature just keep popping up over and over. Ughhh! Made it back into town (Council Bluffs, IA) just in time to get to the hotel and to go to lodge. Today is also Taco Tuesday at the bar. Sad! After lodge we went out for fourth degree (the bar). I ordered a shot of Jack on the rocks and could not get half of it down, normally i drink 3 triples. My original plan was to taste the drink then spit it out, however, we are so far under calories that one drink didn't seem so bad. The fact that it took two of us to finish one shot is astounding. In bed by 1 am for our drive to Texas tomorrow.

Day 8 - Trudy

Today was tough because we were driving 1/3 of our 36 hour trip. I never realized how much food is a part traveling. You get bombarded with signs for restaurants and even when you stop for gas and bathrooms you get bombarded with chips, candy, soda and more in the gas stations.  It was rough because I am used to getting something to eat or drink every time we stop.

60 day juice fast - Johnnie day 8

Woke up at 6am to begin our trip.  On the road by 7am. We will be attempting to make the juicing easier by using Naked brand juices - they appear to be all natural with no added crap, no preservatives etc. The flavors are good and the bottles filling.

Day 7 - Trudy

Today was hard because all that we are doing is sitting around our freezing house waiting forpeople to come look at it and hopefully buy it; that however, did not happen. We instead got stood up. No real food issues.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 7

Today we were supposed to meet with a buyer for the house. However, they did not show. We are growing tired of Maine, Mainers, this house and so on. Not having the habitual comfort of food to "ease" away these frustrations is all new to both pf us. We have spent most of the day and night cuddled on the couch trying to stay warm. The plan is to leave tomorrow for warmer weather back with Dave and Julie in Texas where it is in the 60's today. Early to bed so that we can get up and get out of here that much faster.

Day 6 - Trudy

Today was a bad day because when we left Bob and Jess' house we got to our house and found that the water lines had broke and flooded our basement. I was so upset and just wanted to eat whatever I could get my hands on that might make me feel better, but there was no time for that. It was freezing out and we needed to get that water out of the basement A.S.A.P. Not to mention that we have someone coming to see the house tomorrow. 9 hours later the basement was pumped out and it was clean-up time. Other than that, no real food issues.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 6

Awesome! We arrived at our house in Maine to the sound of running water!!!! Two pipes had burst in the kitchen at some unknown point and proceeded to flood the basement knee deep in freezing cold water. Wait, it gets better though. We own half of a duplex which means we also flooded our neighbors basement too!!!!!!! Over three feet of water total had it all been in ours and our basement is roughly 16' x 40' feet!!!!!!! Needless to say for most of the night food was of no concern. We had to find a pump and keep pumping the basement while also trying to stay warm with no heating oil and only a pellet stove for warmth on a 9 degree night. The pumping (the neighbor used one also) took almost ten hours to be done. After it was done though I have never wanted a pizza and a drink so damn bad in my life!!

Day 5 - Trudy

Today was a good day. Today we watched a movie about how changing your diet can cure illnesses. The movie also talked about MSG and what it does to your body. I can't beleive all of what I saw in the movie, no wonder people all over the worl are fat and sick. Food is killing us! Our own governments know that foods and the way in which they are made is doing this and yet they refuse to do anything about it due mostly to the fact that keeping people fat and sick is big business.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 5

Today was not so bad at all. We watched more food network! Lol.  have had a slight numbness on the left side of my face for most of the day. I soaked in the tub but that didn't give any relief. I finally took some excederin, also tried to remember to drink more water today. I need to get better about that as I have started to notice some minor cramping on and off. These days just seem to be going particularly slow. Day 60 seems like it might as well be day 360!

Day 4 - Trudy

Today was a good day.  It snowed all day so we couldn't really do much.  The cravings are starting to go away; now seeing food or smelling it doesn't effect me.  I would love to eat real food but I don't have to.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 4

Watched lots of food network today; wasn't so bad.  Watching did little to strengthen the urges; however, I am growing tired of the same ole' same ole'.  I want the end result; the days just seem long.  Stress over the house and being forced out of Maine due to broken promises and lies as well as not getting paid for the trip as planned has hurt us.  I am hoping when I get back to Texas we will be able to keep our minds off of food and focused on day 60.  Also had some fairly severe stomach cramping today.

Day 3 - Trudy

Today has been better.  I figured out hwat it is that I miss the most about food, it's chewing and tasting different flavors.  Of course juice has different flavors too but I am speaking of salty stuff; the only flavor that doesn't occur naturally in foods.  I was so tempted day one to put a piece of cut up fruit or veggie in my mouth while juicing, it is just a habit to be grazing while doing whatever in the kitchen.

60 Day juice fast - Johnnie day 3

Today was much better. I still feel a little foggy or slow but I have double the energy I had yesterday which is about half of what I hope to have.  There was far more trips to the bathroom today than the first two days. This was to be expected but is not unbearable. Just don't let one loose unless you are 100% sure it is safe.  You could be leaking down your leg before you know it.  Gross, but true.

For months now I have had this lump below my zyphoid process (the bone at the base of your sternum in the center of your chest, where you press to do CPR) and it is feeling as though my surgical hernia was back, swollen, tender, etc.  I noticed today however that the lump was gone; this is good news.

We are staying at a friend's house and he has some other guests here as well; they had lasagna and bread and one of them had lobster! All of it smelled great, the bread was probably the biggest temptation.

Trudy and I have talked at length about what we miss and we agree that chewing is a big part.  We find it hard to believe that we have not chewed a single food item since Sunday evening.

Day 2 - Trudy

Today has been a very hard day. All day has been spent in bed due to the fog I have been in all day. I find myself wanting snacks, I believe that comes from the many years of eating while bored or watching television. I joked with Johnnie about putting food in our moiths just to get the flavor and then spitting it out. I find it hard to drink all my juice when I get a glass. I realize now how bad my relationship with food really is. No wonder why I am fat. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

60 Day juice fast, day two - Johnnie

OMG!!! Joe said the first day or so was the worst. Today was miserable! I woke up at 7am with a migraine that wouldn't go away. I finally had to take two excedrin. Eventually the headached subsided. Have spent most of the day in bed. Feel full with only minor desires to eat so that has been better. It feels odd not chewing but I am starting to see how close my relationship with food is. I keep thi king of one snack or the other and how often I would be reaching for food especially snack food.

Day:1 Trudy

Starting out today I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to control myself and that I would end up eating whatever I could get my hands on. That, suprisingly enough, was not the case. I made it through the day without cravings or cheating. While we were at the store to get fruits and veggies is when I noticed just how easy it is to just grab something to eat when you are hungry. I hope that I can lose some weight and get healthy. I hated the pictures we took this afternoon. I feel awful that I let myself get like this.

60 Day juice fast day 1 - Johnnie

**(this is our juice journal from our first juice fast which we started on January 9th of 2012, I am posting these notations directly from our journals that were kept daily and am doing so in correlation to our second juice fast which started on April 9th, 2012. Each entry will be posted at the end of the day, this will post on the 10th and be for the day of the 9th, etc. When all 60 days have been posted here I will include a brief summary of the experience and then begn adding the journal entries from our newest 60 day juice fast. Please follow this journey, it is pretty amazing, pictures will be coming and also check us out on Facebook or our website Juice460Days.com. We welcome you coments questions and more. If you decide to do a juice fast please e-mail us and let us know all about your results, we will share your story on our website too.)

Today was our first day of juicing. We got the idea to start this after watching a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" about and Australian named Joe Cross who was morbidly obese, had developed a rare skin disease  and was on tons of medication.  Joe decided to take back control of his life, reduce his medicines, possibly cure his rare ailment, lose weight and get healthy.  After 60 days he had lost a staggering 90+ pounds! I began thinking, if I could lose 90 pounds I would be at a weight I haven't seen in 25 years.

Perhaps I should re-cap a little. I love food. I love to cook. I eat large portions but not ridiculous ones. I even try to eat mostly healthy. I do enjoy starches however and unfortunately fried foods are a weakness for me. Weight has always been an issue and more times than not it has limited my choices in life. After breaking my back 5 years ago and having so many issues related to that the weight has just piled on. So, somedays I eat because I feel hopeless, like me getting more fat is going to happen no matter what; the flawed logic then is why limit myself?  Other days I see much larger people and think to myself, "Hey, at least I don't look that bad." The truth is though that way of bouncing back and forth is what has now pushed me over 300 pounds!(314 to be exact)

I feel sick, broken, lazy, weak, slovenly and disgusting. I get pains in my chest, I had a blood pressure scare for several months last year, my left arm twinges, my right arm aches, I have to stretch to wipe my ass, I breathe heavy with mild exertion,my feet ache all the time, my back hurts so bd some days I struggle to breathe, I can feel the tendons in my knees struggling to stay healthy and not tear, causing more problems and the list goes on.

In short, I don't want to die, killing myself slowly with food and gluttony. I have goals, dreams and love and I want to live life fully not just exist until I am dead.

We were on the road all day from Saturday the 7th of January till 10AM Sunday morning driving back to Maine and then no sleep till about midnight. So, when we finally slept we were out.  We woke up around 11AM today so not having those early morning hours was easy. We drank a store bought juice made by the Naked Juice brand (the only brand in stores with all natural ingredients and no additives).  Not sure how good this is but it is a start and it is juice with ingredients I can pronounce! We were full easily. We went to the store and bought about $60 worth of fruits and veggies plus supplies (we already own a Jack LeLane Power Juicer) like 4-2quart containers to hold juice and so on.

We juiced everything tonight, bought more than we needed, of course, and made 2 gallons of juice.  Not sure how long that will all last though, hopefully a few days.

All in all not "eating" has really not been all that bad.  A little odd maybe but I am excited to rech the goal so any temptation this first day seemed fairly minor.
